Graphic novels such as Maus are fairly common lesson plan material. But superhero comics are underrepresented. Here at SuperLessons, I aim to change that. Comics are immensely important as a cultural phenomenon, a form of literature, and a part of history.
Each week on Monday, a new lesson plan based on one issue of a superhero comic will be posted. This lesson plan, directed at high school students, may contain literary analysis, historical context, or cultural context. Each lesson plan will include a list of Common Core standards that it meets.
Occasionally, I’ll post about the adventures of my own SuperKids, as well as reviews of the comics I’m currently reading.
